Working Area – Lohardaga and Simdega

This programme is designed to build strong and confident community leaders (C.L) who can guide their villages toward better opportunities.

These leaders play a key role in helping families understand their rights, access government schemes and connect with services that can improve their everyday lives. Along with this, the programme encourages communities to prepare for social and climate challenges by promoting habits that support long-term resilience.

The aim is to reach 3,000 underprivileged households across 20 pockets, each with 150 to 200 families. In every village, community leaders are identified and trained through awareness sessions, workshops, group discussions and steady follow-up support.

These activities help them grow the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to lead with clarity and purpose.

The fourth phase of the ESP takes a close look at how health and education services are functioning across the 20 pockets of the ESP. We surveyed the Primary Health Centre in Rampur, Sub Centres in Khakhaparta and Merle and the Community Health Centre in Kisko. We gathered perceptions from the villagers utilising these Health Centres for treatment.

In Education we surveyed 3 Primary School in Chot Chorgain, Mentegara and Basri, 1 Middle School in Hisri Nawatoli, 1 High School in Buti and 1 +2 School in Mugo. Along with perceptions of the families whose children are attending these schools for education.

Through this we are able to determine where these institutions need support. We will prepare a memorandum based on the findings, outlining practical steps to improve services and present and submit these in interface meeting with block and district officials.

We also plan to submit it with the MLA, MP, Health and Education Minister and the chief minister. These efforts will go long way in a campaign to address the identified gaps and strengthening local systems.
